What We Do

The office of the Assessor has the following responsibilities to the citizens of Crawford County:

  1. Locate all taxable property in the county and identify ownership.
  2. Establish a taxable value for all real and personal property subject to taxation.
  3. Complete an assessment roll showing assessed values.
  4. Apply all legal exemptions and Amendment 79 Homestead Act where applicable.

State law mandates that all real and personal property is subject to taxation unless otherwise exempted. Property taxes support services such as law enforcement, fire protection, education, libraries, and other vital county services.
